Dr. Rimm’s team studied 93,600 women in the age group between 25 to 42 over the course of 18 years and found that those who ate the most blueberries and strawberries were 34% less likely to have suffered a heart attack than were women who ate the least of these fruits.

Berries particularly blueberries and strawberries are rich in chemical compounds called anthocyanins which help lower blood pressure, and they make blood vessels more elastic.
